Back in February of this year, just after an amazing adventure to NYC, I was moving through the morning flow on my yoga mat when the phrase ‘the manifest sessions’ came to me as if through direct transmission from my guides, angels and cosmic forces. At the time, I had been mulling over ideas for a blog about working with the creative and making space for the imagination in life and work and art.
Having been a Project Manager in web development for the past 5 years, I’ve worked with so many clients who have no idea what they want but know they need a website or an online marketing strategy. Working with this nebulous notion makes executing wonderfulness online a little percarious. In order for things to flow smoothly, it helps to know where you’re headed or at least where you want to end up. If we have a clear picture of the ultimate goal, we can have a clear plan to get there. Without knowing what you want or where you’re going, every action is tangled in a cloud of unknowing and doesn’t get much distance.
When what you do aligns with what you want and where you’re going, good things happen, as if the universe opens up to you. But all too often, I find people stuck in a fog of unknowing, often with ideas that need a place to land – or a plan for success.
“You always go for what you want. You’re so clear,” my mom would always say to me. “How do you know?” she would ask. “I just know,” I would reply with little explanation. It was always a body reaction, a fullness of embodied knowing who and what I am at that moment – and a pull coming from where I was headed, moving in accordance to the messages from head-heart-and-gut and into a future that is calling me into it.
Any artist will tell you that the impetus for creation comes from an ambiguous place and unfolds before them in the process – but it’s about trusting that first core gut intuition that creates space for great art.
And in the months that followed that vision on the mat, I developed The Manifest Sessions to help with the idea birthing process — and knowing that the process starts with where you are and how clear the idea is.
Knowing what you want requires clarity of thought and the ability to sit with yourself, to know yourself in a way that your heart’s desires ring loud and clear and in tune with your inner compass.
The Manifest Sessions sets to create space for the imagination, space for you to explore those questions, and space for ideas to take shape and take flight. Your future is waiting for you. What are you waiting for?
