life a la mode: eat dessert first
10th Jul 2011Posted in: Art, Life, Love, Text, Work 1

Last night, while walking down Pearl Street after devouring the cuppa magic that is an affogado, two fellow artists (and devourers of life) and I ruminated on the meaning of ‘a la mode.’ Meaning at once “with ice cream on top or on the side” and “the current trend,” it is a rich word to [...]

live inspired in radical aliveness

I’m stoked to share this link to a great blog on health and wellness on a little piece I contributed about the Manifest Sessions collage process and the one key facet of health that may transcend all others: living inspired. The piece is called: Live Inspired: Be Radically Alive.
I was helping a workmate with an [...]

Mellifluous, the sacred honey of ideaplay

This freshly pressed piece was composed in a flurry in the midst of bluegrass brilliance last night. There’s nothing like listening to harmonious pickin whilst tickling the ol’ MacBook keypad. Note: the HIVE will be happening more and more, and dates/times will be honed in on as it grows. – ali

flavor of the day: inspired by hammocks

Last week, in celebration of a friend’s natal anniversary, I whipped up a lovely coconutty frozen concoction inspired by some of his favorite flavors: mango, ginger and cinnamon. What began as an orgasmic sorbet flavor, became a doubly rich textured pleasure on a spoon with all that coconuttiness. It went a little like this for #larkday:

After burning the midnight oil in a feverish state of creative incubation (fueled by the full moon no doubt), The Light in the Garden is (finally) bound between some lovely covers…

All that is random and sweet: An Ode to Desultory and Mellifluous
22nd Aug 2010Posted in: Art, Life, Love, Text, Work 0

Back in 2005, I started a page on my site that I called my blog. It wasn’t technically a real blog (that seemed scary back then – all that exposure), but it was a homegrown log of goodness nevertheless and came to bear the name “desultory and mellifluous,” as a descriptor of life in general, [...]

One of my dearest of compadres was in town this past week just for one sweet day. We met in the Utah backcountry 10 years ago, spent nights under the stars, have weathered unexpected snowstorms, some epic hikes, savored some of the best showers money could buy and have been laughing ever since.
I met her at the [...]

Kombucha, Kefir, Jun & Love Potion #9 1/2
7th Aug 2010Posted in: Art, Life, Love, Text, Work 0

After the tragedy that lead to the vacant shelves where GT Dave’s Kombucha once was, I decided to try my hand at home brewing this popular raw fermented beverage touted with health benefits. Armed with supplies, neighborly support, and one last golden bottle of GT’s Citrus flavor as my starter culture, I set to work [...]
