“We are all visionaries, and what we see is our soul in things.” Henri Amiel
A friend I’m co-conspiring with has alerted me to the needs of a new world order of doing business from a feminine model. Not that the dominant male centric paradigm is wrong, it’s just simply undesirable: Working 8-5, 5 days a week; ignoring biorhythms and hindering full range of movement by sitting at a desk in front of a glowing rectangle in uncomfortable outfits; surviving sleep inducing meetings; lackluster office spaces; cubicles?(!) And so on, ad nauseum. What bozo actually thought that dehumanizing people would make them work better?
When we meet to nurture the birth of our latest project, it’s an embodied event with an element of heart and intuition at the forefront keeping the notion of the whole process in play. And it’s a sensuous experience: there’s fresh organic produce, dark chocolate, haute organic facials and the free expression of ideas unhindered by business-as-usual.
Business-as-usual fails to nourish the soul, and therefore falls short of being a wholly sustainable model. Ignoring self realization doesn’t make traditional-work work.
Sense of purpose in one’s life work starts with the soul, with the curation of the self, and the art that crosses out from the inner workings of the permeable human experience vessel (body) of the percipient perceptible to the other sensory spheres of the constellations of other percipient perceptibles.
Those inter-relationships are where things artify – where ideas happen, where magic happens, where we are touched, where ideas shift, and paths change the course of another through information – text, image, feeling and presence – thus creating a ripple effect (of affect) up through the waves of influence.
Business Unusual is a tensegrity model, a fluid dynamic system, in which each thought, impulse and action has a great affect on the whole (and beyond).
So we start with the self, first and foremost. We honor it, acknowledge its inherent divinity and treat it well. We push its limits to be the best most authentic self it can be in the world ready to offer its own gifts and talents.
Then we create that art that flows so naturally (it happens like leaves to a tree) and ship it out into the world, creating interactions and happenings. Then we make more art, change more minds, bodies and hearts – until the entire constellation of beings is glowing hot and orbiting in brilliance for all to see.
Because when we are all alive like that – that’s when the magic happens.
