Imagination is greater than knowledge, and my friend Sam is a testament to that. Sam is a young writer with a world inside of her that drives her creative play and plotting with the written word. A fan of Anime and Cosplay, there’s no denying her devotion to her stories. She’s prolific . You can find her writings at Kyokomage.wordpress.com. You’ll be reading more of this powerhouse in the future… – ali
Q. How long have you been writing? When did you know you were a writer? Where does your inspiration come from?
A. I have been writing for more than 6 years now. I learned that I was a writer after an assignment at school. My inspiration just hits me out of no where.
Q. What are your feelings on standard education and fostering the gifts and talents that are unique to each individual person?
A. Standard education doesn’t really look at each kid’s talent and gifts. It focuses on what’s in the books that’s what holds a lot of people like me back.
Q. Do you currently have a writing practice? If so, what is it like? How do you devote your time to your art?
A. I spend an hour to a few hours a day just drowned in my work.
Q. What else are you involved in that influences / helps develop your craft?
A. I read a lot, normally at school. It helps me see a professional’s work, and it shows me a few ways to phrase things. Not to mention – it helps me develop my plots better and not make mistakes that those authors did…
Q. What inspires you?
A. Nothing specific inspires me. I just get ideas like a slap in the face and run off to find somewhere to write them down.
Q. What is your big dream or goal or driving impetus in life, and how do you see yourself getting there?
A. I’d like to become a published author and sell my books in stores. I’d also like to end up working at a cafe that my friend plans to own. I see myself getting there by enjoying my time and little by little becoming more known through things such as my website.
Q. What are 5 things you want to do this year?
A. Learn to play guitar, become fluent in Japanese, learn how to draw, finish my story ‘All Dogs Go to Heaven, Too Bad I’m no Mutt,’ and curse less.
Q. When do you expect to have your first book completed?
A. My first book will hopefully be completed by new years 2012
Q. If you could spend a day with 5 people / characters / personalities – who would they be and why?
A. (I love this question already.) I would spend the day with 5 of my favorite characters (the ones I made): Kyoko, Rai, Katsuya, Dante, and Mitsu. Kyoko is just too much fun in between her anger issues, hidden pain, and smug personality. She always seems to make herself spotlight even when she doesn’t want to be, and she’s just fun to write about. Rai is too nice for his own good in the way that he knows what you want to hear to make you feel better and only says about half of what he knows. He’s sweet, but his klutzy, comic-relief attitude makes him a funny aspect to a serious book. Katsuya – ahaha – I would LOVE to hang out with her so she could teach me to be a lovely art thief such as herself. She probably would teach me too, even if the police were watching and getting ready to catch her. Dante would be amazing to hang out with, because, like Rai, he knows a lot more than he lets you see. His openly acted comic reliefishness makes him seem like he’s Daniel’s guardian angel. And finally, Mitsu the sanest one of the bunch. She just happened to be pulled into my group of criminals. Of course she’s used to it. She would just keep us from burning down too many things (hurray for pyromanics) and getting caught by the police.
Q. 54% of Iceland’s population “won’t deny” the existence of elves. Discuss.
A. I AGREE with the sorta-kinda statement on elves existance. I mean, how awesome is that! I want to see an elf – it would simply be AMAZING. Iceland is officially my hero! Elves must be real! (Too bad I have no evidence.)
